For my graduate work at NCAD I created Toy Gods, a collection of work dedicated to reconnecting with your inner child and the healing benefits it brings. The work was inspired by the lifespan of toys which remain in our lives for decades, changing alongside us. They are a symbol of the growth we have been through and a nostalgic reminder of a simpler time far away from the stress of adult life. It is also a memoir of my own journey through mental health struggles in my late teens and early adulthood, which is neither a unique or uncommon experience. I found healing in reconnecting with what made me happy as a child and nurturing that joy once more.
